An Address delivered by the Poetry Field Club to the Citizens of Portsmouth
July 19th 1997
Comrades, we bring greetings from the Equi-Phallic Alliance, who wish you well in the direct action you have undertaken in defence of the Tricorn. This is our cathedral and we cherish it.

We, who walk in myth, below the underchalk, have discovered much concerning the ancient history of the site the Tricorn stands upon.

A Druid grove once occupied the place you love, which was an unnerving, solitary place, filled with echoings and frenzied dancing.

Palmerston, who first envisaged the Tricorn, wished to refound the tradition that characterised the strategies of the Druids after Vortigern.  The Tricorn site, however, was never polluted by Druidic sectarianism, remaining ‘placeless’ throughout history.

An apple goddess has protected it from blood sacrifice and consumerism. This unknown ground is made mysterious by the Tricorn, which is why we must save it.

If Cascades 2 is built on this site, all will be lost.

Those involved in the conspiracy against the Tricorn include Richard Branson, Michael Hancock MP, the 'bishop' of Portsmouth, Taylor Woodrow and ‘prince’ Charles.

They seek to destroy the Tricorn Ley Line

A spokespenis for Proles for Modernism has described how they ‘walked the line’ from the ‘golden’ head of Charles 1 to the triangular enclosure at Hilsea.

She expressed outrage at "the spiritual exploitation of the people of Portsmouth, enacted by priests, in their churches, which are factories, mass producing ‘belief’."  The letter continued, "Belief is poison to the soul, it stifles gaiety.
We protest."

She defended the Tricorn as "a true expression of the human spirit" and attacked the 'bishop' of 'Portsmouth', who she accused of "plotting" with Richard Branson, etc. to "raze the Tricorn" because it is "an icon of pagan spirituality, which expresses a relationship to things."

Later, staff at Portsmouth cathedral denied any knowledge of the Tricorn Ley Line, and of the significance of tomorrow’s full moon, which we are welcoming today, with the Portsea Island Maenads, in hysteria, in our beautiful Tricorn.

"We honour the Apple Goddess, who walks with Ellen in the Bower.  We offer our votive oats, in the hall of the triple goddess, the Tricorn."

So speaks Dr. Charles Mintern, who walks in darkness under hollow hills.
